The motto of NSS is "NOT ME, BUT
YOU". The chief objective of NSS is the development of the personality
if the students through community service. The National Service
Scheme of Bharathiar University is functioning with 250 NSS Units
in 82 colleges. The total NSS Volunteer strength of the University
is 25,000. The University has also introduced National Service Scheme
in co-curricular activities under part IV of the U.G. Courses.
The NSS cell has organized various seminars and
workshops viz, Career Guidance, Empowerment of Women, Girl Child
Education and population, AIDS Awareness, Environmental Awareness,
Women and Health, Communal Harmony, Leadership Training Programmes,
Consumer Awareness, Road Safety, Tree Planting and Blood Donation
Camps.
The Other Programme Such:
University Level Cultural Festival, State Level NSS Integration
Camp at Ooty, University Level Award, Republic Day Parade Camp,
Mega National Integration Camp, Indira Gandhi National Award.
UNIQUE PROGRAMMES
I. Book Collection Programme
5,123,763 when collected and hand over to District Library to Re-Distributed
to the Rural Libraries.
II. Kaitharikku Kai Kodduppom
To promoted and uplift the poor handloom weavers by the way of selling
the handloom products. Each NSS student Volunteers from every college
should take participate actively in this programme. With an initial
target of Rs.25 Lakhs it reach One Core Six thousand.
III. One College One School Adoption Programme:
In remembrance of 125th Birthday of Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiar.
One College One School adoption Scheme invited 125 affiliated colleges
Bharathiar University have adopted 125 Government and Aided Schools.
IV. Student Counseling Centre
The Student counseling center the every college requested to establishing
student counseling centre
V. Grievance Day Petition Writing
On every Monday to illiterate public are helped in writing their
petition free of cost at the Coimbatore Collectorate by the NSS
student volunteers on rotation basis.
