Computer science and engineering is one of the thrust areas in science and technology. In appreciation of its growing importance in business and visualizing the career prospects, the University established the School of Computer Science and Engineering to facilitate research and human resource development in the subject. A team of learned and dedicated teachers train the students in the latest technology enabling them to acquire the necessary skills to work in any reputed IT industry. The extensive use of OHP and LCD in the classes makes teaching interactive, providing a conductive atmosphere to the students. Technical seminars, guest-lectures, personality development programmes, aptitude tests, group discussions, and industrial visits are organized regularly in the School. Value-added courses, soft skill development programmes and job-oriented courses help to increase the employment potential of the students. The School is equipped with well furnished laboratories and spacious class rooms. The excellent infrastructure facilities available in the school and the quality IT education offered have been well appreciated by researchers and academicians. Currently eight research projects are funded by UGC and they are (i) Design of development of efficient data cleaning algorithm for biological databases (ii) A study of functional magnetic resonance image (FMRI) analysis and diagnoses of brain (iii) Development methodologies for type II fuzzy logic systems (iv) Development of methodologies for hybrid images compression using soft computing techniques, (v) An extended architecture from e-learning to Mobile learning for learners assessment system using SMS, (vi) Computer application in Evaluating expert competitiveness through product market identification, (vii) An efficient scheduling strategy for protein sequence analysis on the Grid (viii) A Model of Defects Detection in Object Oriented Programming Languages and Console Based Applications. Thrust areas of research in the school of computer science and engineering are in the fields of Soft Computing, Image Processing, Bioinformatics, Software Agent, Software Engineering, Mobile Computing, Networks and Management Information System in Trade. The constituent departments of the school of computer science and engineering 1. Department of Computer Applications The school also offers the following research programmes 1. M.Phil in Computer Science Seminars, Guest Lectures, Paper presentations etc., are an integral part of all the above programmes. Industrial visits organized by the School to various establishments enable the students to have a feel of real life situations in industry and the technologies in use at present and under development for the future. Seminar/Workshop/Refresher Course/Conference Conducted The School of Computer Science and Engineering has organized a number of seminars, workshops and refresher courses. About more than 4 seminars/conferences/symposium/ workshops and 3 refresher courses were conducted. Computer Science Society Aspirant actions apart from the classical curriculum cherish the magic touch of technology through the computer science society, a regulated body of the School of Computer Science and Engineering. The winnable values of Computer Science Society spreads the spectrum of communication through magazine, clubs, placement cells, technical symposium, seminars, talks and cultural, with every student of the department having an active participation to magnify its needs. Paperfest (National level Technical Symposium) A two day National level students convention PAPERFEST is organized, for presenting papers which will focus on major areas of Computer Science, during the month of October once in two years.
