Candidates who will be completing their degree programme through Academic Examinations are also eligible to apply for admission. However, their admission will be considered only if they successfully complete the degree programme and satisfy the above eligibility conditions at the time of admission. Candidates who do not fulfil the eligibility conditions on the day of admission will not be considered for admission.

The candidates should have completed 10+2+3 years of study before admission for the PG courses.

PROCEDURE FOR SECURING ADMISSION :

Candidates desirous of obtaining admission into the PG degree courses offered in the University Departments should apply for the same in the prescribed application form which are available with the Registrar, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore - 641 046 at a cost of Rs. 150/- to be remitted by a Bank of India Chalan (into the General Fund Account of Bharathiar University) or a demand draft of any Nationalised Bank, drawn in favour of the Registrar, Bharathiar University payable at Coimbatore. SC/ST candidates have to pay only Rs. 75/- provided they produce an attested Photo copy of his / her Community Certificate along with the request for application. The candidates shall send a self addressed envelope (28 x 13 cms) affixing Rs. 20/- stamp along with a request.

(The above procedure does not apply for M.B.A., and M.C.A., degree courses offered in the University Department and for all courses offered by the School of Distance Education.)

Candidates who are eligible and willing to apply for admission to more than one PG degree course shall submit separate application for each course. Application made for admission to one course will not be considered for any other course.

The Application form and the hall-ticket, which are enclosed with this prospectus, shall be completed in all respects and sent to the respective Head of the University Department, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore - 641 046. The application shall not be sent to the Registrar. Applications Received after the due date will be summarily rejected.

The application should be accompanied with attested xerox copies of the following required certificates.

1. Community Certificate
2. Mark / Grade Certificate
3. Provisional / Degree Certificate (if already qualified for degree)
4. Certificate of extra-curricular activities, if any.

Selection Procedure :

The selection will be based on the marks scored by the candidates in an entrance test and upto 5th semester / II year of their UG degree course of study. The weightage will be as follows :

i) Entrance Test : 60 marks
ii) UG course of study :
(upto V sem. / II year)
40 marks
Total : 100 marks

The total marks scored upto 5th semester of study (if it is semester pattern) or upto II year of study (if it is annual pattern) in the UG degree course in all subjects other than i) part I / II Languages and ii) subjects like General Knowledge, NSS, irrespective of the candidate appearing for academic examinations or already qualified for the award of degree, shall be reduced to 40 marks. If a candidate has failed in some subjects upto V semester / II year as the case may be as on date of application, the marks secured in all subjects (passed and failed) shall be taken to arrive at the total marks scored.

The question paper for the entrance test shall consist of 60 Objective type questions giving 4 choices to choose among, carrying 1(one) mark each and the duration of the test will be 90 minutes.

Hall-tickets containing the date, time and venue of the entrance test will be sent to the candidates, by certificate of posting so as to reach the candidates atleast 5 days before the date of entrance test. Candidates who do not receive the hall-tickets in time may contact the respective HODs and obtain the same.

Provisional list of selected, waiting listed candidates will be put up in the respective department notice boards within fifteen days after the date of entrance test.

The selected candidates shall be required to surrender their original Transfer Certificates, Conduct Certificates, Mark Sheets, Provisional / Degree Certificates and remit the prescribed fee on or before the last date indicated in their admission card. The certificate once surrendered will not be returned till the student completes the course or leaves the course. Students are advised to retain with them the required number of attested xerox copies of the certificates for the purpose of applying for posts, scholarships, courses, loans, passports, etc. with them.

Scholarships

A number of Scholarships which include the Government of India, Merit, Backward, Most Backward Class scholarships, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes scholarships are available to the students admitted to the PG Degree courses.
