The full-time M. B. A. programme is offered in six trimesters of study spread over a period of two years with each trimester having sixty working days. The programme comprises of 20 core-courses, 8 elective courses and a Project Work followed by Viva-voce. A student should choose 2 elective courses during IV Trimester and 4 during V and 2 during VI Trimesters from the list of elective courses.

The teaching methodology adopted is a judicious mix of case method, role play, computer aided learning, experimental exercises, group discussions, seminars and lectures. Relevant audio and video materials are also used. Regular Industrial visits are part of the learning programme. Working on a field-based project is one of the unique teaching methodology followed.

The internal evaluation is on a continuous basis. Students are assessed based on their performance in tests, assignments, quizzes, projects, seminars and classroom participation.


Candidates seeking admission to the M.B.A. Programme should possess a pass in any degree examination of this University or any other qualification recognised as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of this University.

All candidates should have completed 10+2+3 years of study before being admitted to the M.B.A. Programme.

Candidates who will be completing their U.G. degree programme during academic Examinations are also eligible to apply for admission. However, their selection will be considered only if they successfully pass the degree programme and satisfy the above eligibility conditions at the time of admission. Candidates who do not fulfil the eligibility conditions on the day of admission will not be considered for admission.


Candidates desirous of obtaining admission into the M.B.A. Programme offered in the Bharathiar School of Management should apply for it in the prescribed application form to "The Registrar, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore - 641 046" on payment of Rs. 300/-, to be remitted by Bank of India Challan (into the General Fee Fund Account of Bharathiar University) or by a demand draft of a Nationalised Bank, drawn in favour of "The Registrar, Bharathiar University" payable at Coimbatore. SC/ST candidates have to pay only Rs. 100/-, provided they submit an attested photo copy of Community Certificate, along with the request for application.

The Application Form, shall be completed in all respects and submitted to the Registrar, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore - 641 046 on or before the last date specified in the application form. The envelope containing the completed application and enclosures should be superscribed as " APPLICATION FOR M.B.A. PROGRAMME ". The application should be accompanied by attested photo copies of the following certificates :

1.Community Certificate
2.Mark / Grade Certificate
3.Provisional / Degree Certificate (if qualified for degree)
4.Certificates of extra-curricular activities, if any.
5.Mark Certificate of Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)

Incomplete or Late applications will not be entertained.

Note : Candidates seeking admission to MBA are required to appear for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University, Chennai.

Please note that candidates should apply separately to Bharathiar University after obtaining the Entrance scores in TANCET Exam.


Selection will be solely on the basis of merit and in accordance with the rules of communal reservation of the Government of Tamil Nadu. However SC / ST Candidates of other states will be considered under SC / ST quota after exhausting SC / ST applicants of Tamilnadu. The candidates will be selected for admission to the programme based on their Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).

The candidates selected for admission will be intimated individually and the list of such candidates will be put up on the University Notice Board, the leading dailies and in the University dynamic website 1. www.b-u.ac.in 2. www.bsmed.net

No enquiries with regard to their selection will be entertained.

One seat is reserved for physically permanently handicapped candidates and one seat is reserved for sports person for admission into M.B.A. programme.

Candidates seeking admission under Physically Handicapped quota shall produce a Medical Certificate about his/her permanent physical disability, issued recently by an orthopaedic surgeon serving in Government Hospitals not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon. The candidate under this category will be selected on the basis of his/her scoring in Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) interview and group discussion and such candidate should be physically able to undergo the course.

Candidates seeking admission under Sports quota will be selected on the basis of their performance / representations at the following levels :

1.Participation at the International level - the candidate shall have been sponsored by a national organization.
2.Participation at the National level - the candidate shall have been sponsored by a State Organization.
3.Participation at the Inter-University level - the candidate shall have been sponsored by a University.
4.Participation at the State level - the candidate shall have been sponsored by a Zonal or District Association.

The performance of the candidates in sports that are included in the All India Inter-University Competitions will alone be considered. Sports like Rifle Shoots, Karate, Judo etc., will not be considered. Students seeking admission under sports quota should be below 25 years of age. The achievement of the candidates in sports in their UG course of study only will be considered for selection, that is to say, their achievement at the school level will not be considered.

These candidates shall fill-up the respective column in the application clearly, and enclose a separate sheet detailing his / her achievement in sports and shall also enclose attested photo copies of all sports certificates received by him / her during the UG course of study. Applications of candidates who fail to produce evidence for their achievement in sports will not be considered under the sports quota.

All candidates selected for admission to M.B.A. shall be required to join the course and surrender their original Transfer Certificate, Conduct Certificate, Mark Sheets, Provisional / Degree Certificate and remit the prescribed fees on the dates indicated in the admission letter. Request for extension of time will not be granted, whatever the reason may be. The certificates once surrendered will not be returned till the student completes the course or leaves the course. Hence they are advised to retain with them adequate number of attested photo copies of the certificates for future use.

A number of scholarships are available to students belonging to Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, who are admitted into the Programme. SC/ ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu are exempted from paying tuition fee at the time of admission.

Note : Candidates are requested to submit their filled-in applications alongwith the entrance marks conducted by Anna University -TANCET either in person or by post within 15 days from the date of publication of TANCET results.
